Myanmar Children’s Foundation (MCF) has collaborated with the following organizations in carrying out its mission:

Adonai Child Rehabilitation  

ACR is non-profit organization registered under the government of Myanmar. It is organized by seven dedicated people since 2015 and registered in 2016 to help education and basic needs of orphans and vulnerable children from various backgrounds, religion and ethnicities.

AKYU – All Kachin Youth Union

Young leaders in training who conduct fact-finding and research, advocacy and networking, youth political empowerment.  AKYU has produced several leaders who have become the founders of political parties, NGOs and CBOs.  AKYU has a pool of expertise in human rights, law, environment, social justice, organizational development, English teaching, community organizing, advocacy and health, particularly HIV/AIDS.

Alternative Gifts International

Alternative Gifts International is a non-profit organization which
inspires support for humanitarian and environmental causes offeringdonors the option to designate charitable gifts through carefully selected agencies in the name of their relatives, friends and associates.  Our Stay in School Project is listed in their online catalog.

Child’s Dream Foundation

A charitable, not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized children and youth in the Mekong Sub-Region, which includes Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia. They achieve this by working in partnership with communities to improve the educational and health situation for their children and youth.  Activities range from health interventions for children to reduce child mortality, construction of educational facilities to provide universal basic education, youth employment centers to high school and university scholarships.  Child’s Dream funded the cost of construction for building one at Shan Chaung Monastic School.

Civic Society Initiative

Originally established in August 2007, CSI is an independent body which aims to develop the volunteer spirit in youth and to create opportunities for young people to use their skills and abilities by helpingunderprivileged children and elderly people.  It was formed as a response to the need for a platform for citizens to act together to promote better educational practices, to provide basic medical assistance and to facilitate forms of civic awareness and volunteer activities in Myanmar.

DSMAF – Dr. Saw Mra Aung Foundation

a non-profit organization founded in January 2015 for the remembrance of Dr. Saw Mra Aung (1918 – 2009) in response to concern and issues of social welfare in Myanmar where he struggled for democracy, peace and human rights.  Their purpose is to support the social welfare and development of Myanmar in response to the needs of poor and vulnerable community.

Hope International Development Agency

Extends compassion to the neglected poor by giving help to provide clean water, sustainable food supplies, good health, education and skills and improved income. We have partnered with them to publish children’s books in minority languages and offer teacher training and income-generating training.

Kachinland School of Arts and Sciences  

Part of The Humanity Institute in Myitkyina, founded in 2014, is a knowledge enterprise that inspires and incubates young leaders to mould the future of a peaceful Kachin State by providing quality tertiary level education and by building the ecosystem of learning. 

Metta Moe Myanmar

Our partner in constructing a two story classroom building at Zabu Oak Shaung Nunnery School and in running the “One Step for Girls” vocational training program in sewing and building self esteem.  MCF has also subsidized teacher salaries at this school.

Myanmar Storytellers Association – From the Third Story

Founded in 2014, this group has created and produced a children’s book series in Burmese and multiple ethnic languages for distribution free of charge to over 80,000 children across the country. There is a great need in the country to talk about peace, tolerance and diversity at all levels. Stories are written and illustrated by Myanmar authors and artists. For some children, receiving these books may be the first time they can read something in their native language.

Soroptimists International

The local Davis chapter provided a grant of $500 to train three school nurses for MCF’s programs.

Uhambo: The Shonaquip Foundation

Serves people who live in townships, informal settlements and rural areas of Africa by providing access to disability support devices such as wheelchairs.   Uhambo partnered with us to furnish and deliver a specialized wheelchair to a 12-year old boy with cerebral palsy in Kaduna, Nigeria.

Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis

The UU Church of Davis’ Board of Directors approved sponsorship of Myanmar Children’s Foundation in 2013. Our two organizations have a supportive relationship that allows for international humanitarian, educational and social justice projects in the developing world.

Yangon Academy (IECM) Yangon

Yangon Academy, formerly known as IECM, was established in 2004, and is a private, English-medium school offering an American-based curriculum. The school provides quality education to children (age 2 to 18: nursery to grade 12).Our school is an English medium school with teachers and staff from Myanmar and other countries who share the belief that every child has unique value.  YA is the school where MCF’s Founder, Max Harrington, taught for three years.  We continue our relationship with YA through urban-rural class exchanges and visits to our program sites at Monastic Schools.

 

Other supporters and friends of MCF

Sahaya International  A non-profit built on the belief that each of us has a genuine power to make a difference, be a spark of hope, be a catalyst of change.  It raises awareness and education of social, medical and environmental issues in developing countries.

Lantern Projects is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established to raise funds for small projects around the world. This enables adults and children an opportunity to contribute small amounts and see that they can really make a difference in someone’s life. 100% of the funds received for the projects go to the projects.

International House Davis   host to international activities in the Northern California region, offering language courses, welcoming visitors, promoting cultural literacy.

Burmese Khan Academy    A community of volunteers dedicated to providing resources and tools for the translation of Khan Academy videos into the Myanmar language.

Sunset Rotary Club of Davis  Part of a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, building peace and goodwill.

One Myanmar Community  founded by friends in the San Francisco Bay Area to empower the Myanmar community, to build bridges and support networking for new immigrants and youth.
