Nationwide government-issued curriculum materials in Myanmar are printed in black and white on newsprint paper – with few images or photos. Myanmar Children’s Foundation (MCF) saw the need for student and teacher access to interesting reading materials, picture books, workbooks, dictionaries, printed cultural information about Myanmar, maps, puzzles, flash cards, word games, etc.
On our inaugural Travel with a Purpose journey in November, 2013, sixteen U.S. travelers delivered about 50 new English language and English/Burmese/Mon books to children at Nget Pyaw Daw Monastic School.
On several earlier trips in country, numerous books and colorful teaching materials have been donated to Tawya, Shan Chaung, and Zabu Oak Shaung schools.
